Different Types of Neck Pain
Neck pain comes in many forms. If you sleep with too many pillows or with your head positioned at an awkward angle, neck pain can arise. Whiplash is often experienced by those involved in an auto accident or sporting injury incident. Sometimes a cold will settle in the neck, leading to difficulty turning the head until the virus diminishes.
Common Causes of Neck Pain
There are several reasons why someone would contract neck pain. If you have poor posture, the weight of your upper back and head slumping in a forward position will put a strain upon your neck. If you spend a lot of time looking at a cell phone or electronic device, similar pain is often experienced as the neck is stretched in an irregular manner. Many people suffer from neck pain after an auto accident as the seatbelt does not protect the upper portion of your body, including the neck and head when an impact is experienced.
How To Prevent Neck Pain
Make it a priority to do your best to stand up straight instead of slouching. If necessary, obtain a back brace to help pull your shoulders to an acceptable position. If you are experiencing text neck, refrain from using your electronic device for long durations of time. Use a timer to alert you when a few minutes of browsing your device have passed so you can move your body around, helping to thwart a neck pain problem. Using computers or heavy equipment at eye level is also important to help to keep your posture straight.
